The Oyo State Government has apprehended 14 individuals operating shanties that sell diesel illegally along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ibadan.
Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security, CP Sunday Odukoya, (retired) who led Oyo state government special taskforce on clearing operations confirmed this while parading the individual arrested at the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) Headquarters, Secretariat, Ibadan.
CP Odukoya, alleged that the arrested individuals are not only involved in the sale of adulterated diesel but also engage in other illicit activities.

He stated that they would face prosecution in a mobile court operated by Rule of law agency.
The retired Commissioner of Police noted that the state government had given the shanty operators sufficient notice to vacate the area.
He emphasized that the clearance exercise would continue until the expressway is completely cleared of unauthorized structures.
“Enough is enough, We have given them ample time to clear out. Today, we moved in with our taskforce team and arrested 14 individuals involved in this nefarious activity”Odukoya stated.

“We have a Task Force Enforcement Mobile Court which will handle their trial directly” he confirmed.
One of the arrested individuals, Bolaji Mustapha, who admitted to engaging in illegal diesel business, claimed ignorance of previous warnings issued by the government.
The Special Taskforce also recovered four drums of diesel, 17 kegs of various litters in the process.
