Ace broadcaster and popular presenter Iṣẹ́ Yá program on TV, Mrs. Ayodeni Àlùkò, has accused a former Minister of Works and chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Elder Wole Oyelese, of land grabbing.
The contested property is a one-acre parcel located along the Circular Road, near Ẹrúnmu in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking to newsmen in Ibadan, Mrs. Àlùkò, claimed she purchased the land in March 23, 2023 and has maintained ownership without disturbance until recently.
According to her, problems began when development activities around the Circular Road attracted attention to the area.
“I acquired the land legally in March 23, 2023 and I’ve been developing it peacefully”Àlùkò said.
“But now that construction and development have reached Circular Road, Elder Wole Oyelese, suddenly claims that my land belongs to him”
Aluko further alleged that the PDP chieftain resorted to intimidation tactics, sending thugs—locally referred to as “area boys”—to threaten her.
“These boys came to the site with Elder Oyelese and warned me to vacate the land or face consequences” she said.
“As a woman and a law-abiding citizen, I feel under threat”
The popular media personality called on Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo State citizens, and Olubadan-in-Council to come to her aid.
“I am appealing to Governor Seyi Makinde, Olubadan-in-Council, and the good people of Oyo State to protect me from land grabbers” she pleaded.
“This is not just about me—it’s about protecting lawful ownership and the rights of women in our society”
Responding to the allegations, Elder Wole Oyelese, in a video circulated on social media, dismissed Aluko’s claims and asserted that the land in question is part of a 100-acre estate he purchased several years ago.
“The entire expanse belongs to me. I have documents to prove it”Oyelese stated in the video.
Despite the tension, Oyelese said he is open to a peaceful resolution. “I am a man of peace. I’m willing to release one plot to her if that will settle the matter,” he said. “But let it be clear that the land is part of my original purchase”
Aluko, however, has rejected the offer and insisted that she will seek justice through legal channels.
“I don’t need anyone to dash me what I already bought. I will pursue this legally, and I trust in the courts to uphold the truth”she said.
