Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Ibarapa East Local Government have declared support for Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, dismissing recent controversies around him as politically motivated and baseless.
The position was stated in a communiqué released after an emergency meeting of the Ibarapa East PDP Leaders’ Forum held at the party secretariat in Sango, Eruwa.
The meeting was chaired by Hon. Adewuyi Ojoawo.
According to the communiqué, the Forum has full knowledge of Ogundoyin’s character and integrity. It said his conduct in public office over the past seven years has been exemplary and that he could not be involved in any act to undermine a government he has consistently supported with loyalty.
The leaders noted that stakeholders across Ibarapa Zone and Oyo State have repeatedly attested to Ogundoyin’s leadership. They said such qualities were reaffirmed during recent consultations on his gubernatorial aspiration.
The Forum expressed confidence in the Speaker’s ability to continue providing stable leadership for the Oyo State House of Assembly. It described his record in and outside the legislature as proof of dedication to the unity and development of the state.
The PDP leaders rejected any link between Ogundoyin and alleged plots to destabilise Oyo State. They described the people of Ibarapa as loyal and dependable, with a tradition of commitment to collective progress.
The communiqué also reaffirmed unflinching loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration and pledged continued support for its development agenda.
It condemned what it called attempts by external forces to create disaffection between the executive and legislative arms of government. The Forum warned that such moves are calculated to derail the state’s progress.
Party faithful, stakeholders, and residents were urged to resist misinformation, inducement, and divisive agendas. The Forum charged elected officials to remain disciplined and focused on their mandate.
The leaders concluded by cautioning against actions that could drag the state backward. They stressed that synergy between both arms of government must be preserved for sustained development and democratic stability.
The communiqué was signed by 17 prominent PDP leaders in Ibarapa East, including Chief Adewale Atanda Alase, Hon. Adewuyi Ojoawo, Hon. Yemi Taiwo, Hon. Oladapo Dimeji, Prince Abiodun Olabiyi, Aremo John Adeleke, Barr. Ayodele Adekambi, Hon. Gbenga Obalowo, Hon. Akeem Babatunde, Prince Opadeye Wole, Alhaji Morakinyo Kasali, Hajia Wasilat Adegoke, Alhaji Ganiyu Aderibigbe, Hon. Kazeem Arogundade, Hon. Olalowo Kunle, Alhaji Kamo Adeyemi, and Mrs. Dupe Adebisi.
