Governor Seyi Makinde, has said that Oyo State is a secular society which no religious force could breakthrough to cause division.
Governor Makinde stated this at a special prayer and interactive session with religious leaders in the state, held at his Ikolaba residence, Ibadan.

The Governor said initiators of division through religion can not have a place neither in Oyo State nor in the entire southwest states, adding that sharia law can not be implemented without government involvement.
Governor Makinde said the annual programme is to appreciate the unflinching support he have been enjoying from the religious leaders even before he become Governor.

Earlier in his word of exhortation, Pastor Femi Emmanuel who was concerned about rumored implementation of sharia law, charged religious leaders to deepen their participation in politics beyond acquiring voter’s card.
While describing Governor Makinde’s life as a message and lesson for all especially upcoming politicians, charged the Governor not to relent in making his mission pursued that becomes mission accomplished a legacy.

At the event that featured choir ministration, special prayer and breakfast, the Governor presented awards to ministers in the vineyards of God in the state.
