The Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump looks set to become the next US president – in a victory that would see him make a historic return to the White House.
Projected results in crucial swing states – including North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania – are in favour of the former president.
The race with Democrat Kamala Harris was thought to be razor-thin, but overnight results showed Trump on the cusp of the crucial 270 electoral votes.
Meanwhile, the Former President of the US, Trump, having been projected to win the presidential election, has said he’s going to make America great again.
He made this known in his speech on Wednesday while addressing voters at Florida after securing 266 electoral college votes, ahead of Kamara Harris, Presidential candidate of Democratic Party (219).
“This is the greatest political movement of all time.
“We are going to help our country heal. We are going to fix our border.
“Our country was devastated before. I want to thank the American people for electing me as the 45th President and now the 47th President of the US.
“This will be the golden age of America.
“This victory will make America great again,” he stated.
Trump will be officially declared the winner of the historic US election with 270 electoral college votes count.
While the Republican Party is also expected to take control of the Senate.
However, Trump’s favourable results have already seen him congratulated by world leaders,, this include Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu.
He congratulated Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States of America in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
He said he looks forward to strengthening the ties between Nigeria and the United States amid the complex challenges and opportunities of the contemporary world.
“Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.”
“Trump’s victory reflects the trust and confidence the American people have placed in his leadership.”
According to Onanuga, Tinubu believes that, given President Trump’s experience as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, his return to the White House as the 47th president will usher in an era of earnest, beneficial, and reciprocal economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States.
