Ọ̀yọ́ State Governor, Ṣèyí Mákindè has revealed plans of his administration to establish two airstrips in Oyo State.
Mákindè stated this on Monday at the passing out parade of Forest Rangers, an arm under the Ọ̀yọ́ State Security Network Agency and Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn Corps held at NYSC Orientation Camp, Ìsẹ́yìn.
Speaking at the passing out ceremony, Governor Mákindé said, “I know people will criticize me for what I’m about to say but I don’t care.
“We’ll set up an arm of Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn that will be using aircraft and drones for surveillance in our forest.
“We’ll establish two airstrips in Ìgbẹ́tì (Ọlọ́runṣògo local government) and Ọ̀tu (Ìtẹ̀sìwájú local government).”
Mákindè declared that the initiative would be made possible following the ongoing upgrade of Ládòkè Akíntọ́lá Airport, Ìbàdàn to International Standard.
