Mákindè Encourages Girls To Chase Dreams

The Wife of Oyo state Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Mákindè has encouraged girls child to dream big, work hard, and avoid distractions and social vices.

Mrs. Mákindè, gave the encouragement at an event commemorating 2024 International Day of Girl Child, themed “Your Vision and Dreams for the Future are Valued and Achievable” held at house of chiefs, Secretariat, Ìbàdàn.

Mrs. Mákindè, who emphasized the importance of vision in achieving success, urging girl children to stay focused on their education.

She stressed that the cornersy of a bright future lies in the vision and aspirations of girl children themselves. “you are the authors of your vision, dreams, and future, ” She emphasized.

The wife of the Governor, emphasized that girls are not just leaders of tomorrow but today’s leaders, therefore, deserving every opportunity to thrive.

She urged teachers, mentors, and parents not to only guide and encourage girl children to believe in themselves regardless of social background, but also recommit to working together to create a future where they can realize their vision.

“The decision you make for your vision today, sets and shapes your future, ” She concluded.

In her goodwill message, a member of Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ogbomosho North State Constituency, Honourable Oluranti Olubisi-Michael, said the legislative arm will pass bills that would protect and prioritise the rights of the girl child.

Earlier speaking, facilitator from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Celestina Adéníran, urged girl children to set a goal that is attainable, noting that they need to understand their strength and passion in order to actualize their vision in future.

She encouraged them to be well educated saying that education would not make the girl child to be inferior to their contemporary and also help them to be creative and innovative.

In recognition of exceptional dedication and hard work, top three girls with best results in the 2023 and 2024 Senior Secondary School Certificate Education (SSCE) were gifted Laptop computers.

One of the recipient, Miss Fatima Akínlẹ́yẹ, a student of Ọ̀yọ́ state College of Science, Ẹlẹ́kùrọ́, Ìbàdàn, extended her appreciation to her Excellency, Mrs Tamunominini Mákindè, for the care for female folk, noting that the gift would spur her to build a better future for herself and be a good ambassador of the state.

She urged girl children to be diligent, for them to build a better future for themselves and not to relent in their efforts to achieve greatness saying that there is reward for hard work.

Highlight of the event attended by selected secondary school students across the state, include lecture, cultural dance, while sanitary pads, undies, deodorants, septic soaps among others were distributed.
