Ọ̀yọ́ State Governor, Ṣèyí Mákindè, has presented Staff of Office and certificate of appointment to the 46th Alaafin of Ọ̀yọ́, Ọba Akeem Ọ̀wọ́adé.
The brief ceremony, held at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ìbàdàn, marked the formal ascension of the new monarch to the revered throne of Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́ town.
Prince Ọ̀wọ́adé succeeds Ọba Lamidi Ọláyíwọlá Adéyẹmí, the third, who joins his ancestors on 22nd April, 2022 after five decades on the throne.
Governor Mákindè, while presenting the instruments of office, described the new Aláàfin, as a leader poised to uphold cultural and historical heritage of the Ọ̀yọ́ Kingdom.
The Governor while expressing confidence that Ọba Ọ̀wọ́adé will lead with wisdom, integrity, and a commitment to the unity of Ọ̀yọ́ kingdom, admitted that the Aláàfin stool is a custodian of rich history and tradition.
Responding, the new Aláàfin, Ọba Akeem Ọ̀wọ́adé, expressed appreciation to the people of Ọ̀yọ́ town and pledged to prioritize development of the kingdom and welfare of its residents.
The event was attended by traditional and political rulers, top government officials and well wishers from Ọ̀yọ́ town.
