Honourable Rahman Cephas Olorunpoto, member representing Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has congratulated Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade on his approval as the new Alaafin of Oyo.
In a personally signed statement, titled “CONGRATULATIONS TO PRINCE AKEEM ABIMBOLA OWOADE: THE DIVINE CHOICE AS THE NEW ALAAFIN OF OYO”, Honourable Rahman Olorunpoto, welcomed Prince Owoade’s ascension to the throne.
This development follows Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s formal approval of Prince Owoade, as recommended by the Oyomesi.
Prince Owoade’s approval marks the end of an almost three-year vacancy on the throne, which occurred after the passing of Ọba Lamidi Adeyemi on April 22, 2022.
The statement read, “It is with immense joy and reverence that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, the divine choice, on his ascension to the revered throne of the Alaafin of Oyo. His emergence marks the beginning of a new chapter in the glorious history of our great kingdom, and we are confident that his reign, blessed by providence, will bring peace, progress, and prosperity to Oyo and beyond.
I commend the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his visionary and transparent handling of the process that culminated in the emergence of Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade. His commitment to preserving the sanctity of our traditional institutions while upholding fairness and justice is a remarkable testament to his dedication to the cultural heritage of Oyo State.
I also laud the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters for his meticulous coordination and professionalism throughout the selection process. His contributions were pivotal in ensuring a peaceful and credible outcome.

Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade’s ascension is undoubtedly divinely orchestrated, and as the chosen one, his reign is poised to bring unity, development, and global recognition to the Oyo Kingdom. I urge all sons and daughters of Oyo to rally around our new monarch as we collectively strive for the greatness of our kingdom.
