‎Dominion FM Congratulates Oyo NUJ’s Newly Elected Chairman, Urges Professionalism, Press-Freedom

‎Dominion FM, Ibadan, has congratulated the newly elected Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akeem Babatunde Abass, on his emergence at the just-concluded union election.

‎In a congratulatory message signed by the General Manager of the station, Olusegun Fawole, popularly known as “Flood”, the management, board, and staff described the victory of the new chairman and his executive council as “well-deserved”noting that it reflects the trust and confidence journalists in the state have in his leadership capacity and commitment to the profession.

‎According to the statement, the new Chairman popular known as Alakime, is a seasoned and progressive professional whose emergence comes at a critical time in the industry.

‎Dominion FM expressed optimism that the new leadership will justify the mandate freely given by union members.

‎While rejoicing with the Chairman, the station also urged the new executive to remain focused and avoid complacency, stressing that the challenges confronting journalism in Oyo State and Nigeria, including poor welfare, insecurity of journalists, unethical practices, the proliferation of quacks, and the growing influence of new media, require urgent attention.

‎The statement further called on the new NUJ leadership to “hit the ground running”unite all interests within the union, uphold press freedom, and prioritize the welfare and professional development of members.

‎Dominion 106.1FM charged the Chairman to ensure that his tenure stands out for transparency, inclusiveness, and impactful achievements.

“We look forward to a robust and mutually beneficial relationship between Dominion FM Ibadan and the Oyo NUJ under your leadership”the statement added.
