ONDO – The Chairman, Renewed Hope Global Russia, and Chief Executive Officer of OJAS Foundation, Engr. Olabode Jones Ajimijere, has called on the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to urgently intervene in the crisis currently affecting the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC).
Engr. Ajimijere, expressed concern over reports alleging financial impropriety within the OSOPADEC board, including claims of the diversion of about ₦400 million by the Secretary, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, and ₦90 million by the Chairman, Prince Biyi Poroye.
He noted that the allegations have generated widespread public concern and eroded confidence in the commission.
He observed that internal disputes within the board have stalled critical projects meant for oil-producing communities, including the Agadagba-Obon General Hospital and the student bursary scheme, thereby denying residents access to essential services.
According to him, the situation undermines the mandate of OSOPADEC, particularly with a ₦33.8 billion budget approved for the 2025 fiscal year.
Engr. Ajimijere, urged the Governor, as Chief Executive and Chief Security Officer of the state, to issue a clear public statement on the matter and take decisive steps to restore stability and credibility at the commission.
He called for an independent investigation, a comprehensive audit of OSOPADEC’s finances, and necessary reforms within the board to ensure effective service delivery.
“The people of Ondo State’s oil-producing communities deserve accountability and tangible development. OSOPADEC was created to deliver progress, not controversy. This matter requires prompt and transparent intervention” Ajimijere said.
Renewed Hope Global Russia, in collaboration with OJAS Foundation, reaffirmed its commitment to development advocacy in oil-producing areas and called on civil society organisations, community leaders, and the media to support efforts aimed at restoring transparency and accountability within OSOPADEC.
