The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has confirmed that seven teachers were abducted during an attack on Community High School Ahoro-Ẹ̀sínẹ̀lẹ̀, L A Basic School, Ahoro-Ẹ̀sínẹ̀lẹ̀, and First Baptist Church Nursery and Primary School, Yáwọ́ta, in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Makinde disclosed this during a press briefing on the current situation held at his private residence in Kolapo Ishola Estate, Ibadan.
Governor Makinde who confirmed that seven teachers were abducted, while one teacher was killed during the attack, also said that the exact number of abducted pupils remains unknown and would only be confirmed when schools resume today.
He further stated that two operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, sustained injuries during the attack and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Governor Makinde, also revealed that six members of the community, suspected to have connection with the attack have been arrested and are currently undergoing interrogation as part of ongoing investigations into the incident.
While condoling with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the attack, Governor Makinde, assured residents that the state government would provide daily updates until the situation is completely brought under control.
Security chiefs and security advisers to the governor were also in attendance at the briefing.
