All Set for 4th Edition of Journalist Olawale Ogunbusola School Competition & Awards in Ibadan November 6

Preparations have reached top gear for the highly anticipated 4th edition of Journalist Olawale Ogunbusola School Competition & Awards, scheduled to take place on Thursday November 6, 2025, at the prestigious National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan.

In a press statement released by the convener, broadcast journalist, author and education advocate, Olawale Ogunbusola, the event is described as an annual platform aimed at enhancing students’ educational competence, building their confidence, and providing exposure to real-world intellectual and social engagement.

It also seeks to honour distinguished individuals who have contributed significantly in various professional spheres.

According to Ogunbusola, the initiative represents a personal and societal commitment to building a more informed, inspired, and responsible generation of young Nigerians through education and recognition of excellence.

The event will be co-chaired by the Chief Press Secretary to Oyo State Governor, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, and Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Senator representing Oyo Central, Hon. Kunle Olatunji.

Also gracing the event as Fathers of the Day are Chairman, Prince 89.7FM Ibadan, Dr. Babatunde Balogun Oruomeniowo, and Pastor Tayo Olatunji Ogunbusola.

Other notable special guests expected include Comrade Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro, Oyo State Trade Union Chairman, Mrs. Bosede Sodiq, Senior Special Assistant on Broadcast Media to the Oyo State Governor, Mr. Adetunji Lam-Adesina, CEO of 11-11-12 and son of late Oyo State Governor, Elder Babatunde Oloyede, CAF Competition Manager and former Director, Oyo State Sports Council, Mrs. Oriyomi Pamela Otuka, Zonal Director, National Commission for Museums and Monuments, South West, Dr. Oyetunji Oluokun, ENT Specialist, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Mrs. Olaide Turner-Moyet, Director, Alliance Française, Ibadan, Mr. Johnson Awodeji, Registrar (Exams), Oyo State Ministry of Education as well as Representatives of SQI College of ICT & Robotics, Max-African Publishers, K-Dray, and Ige Sam.

The guest speakers for the 2025 edition are Professor Kehinde Jacob Ayantayo, Professor of Religion, Ethics and Sociology, University of Ibadan, Engr. Dr. Anthony Adeniji, Chief Executive Director, Buff-I-Limited, and Mr. Olagunju Adelayo, Assistant Director, Medical Social Services, University College Hospital, Ibadan.

They are scheduled to speak on critical and trending issues such as “Combating Fire and Flood Menace”, “When Will Religious Crisis End?” and “Addressing Cultism Among Students”

These topics will be discussed in a global context, highlighting implications for Nigeria, Africa, and the broader international community.

Ten public and private secondary schools, duly approved by the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, are set to participate, including Springs of Wisdom, Kulodi, New Ife Road, Ibadan, St. Louis Grammar School, Mokola, Lord’s Banner School, Ile Tuntun, Ogungbade, Community College High School, Alarere, Lantem Private School, Gbagi, Outstanding Basic Academy School, Amuloko, Immanuel College High School, UI Road, Qiblah School, Aleshinloye, Bashorun-Oojo High School, Ibadan, and Unique Private School, General Gas, Ibadan.

The 2025 Awards segment will recognize a host of outstanding individuals, including Chairman, Oyo State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Otunba Ayomiku Ajibola, Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Alhaji Waheed Lamidi, Rotimi Agboluaje, Reporter, The Guardian Newspaper, Adewale Owoade, Camera Reporter, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Pastor Adewale Adeiwa, Head of Operations 1 and Traffic/Accounts, Prince FM, Ms. Mercy Omoki, Regional Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Gbagi, Dr. Stephen Oyedele, Community Development Advocate, Hon. Oyejide Adeniyi, 2027 Egbeda House of Assembly aspirant, Mrs. Opeyemi Adabaale, Founder, Springs of Wisdom Schools, Founder Iseya TV, Mrs Ayodeni Aluko, and  ten other trailblazers across education, media, business, and civic engagement.

Date is Thursday 6th, November, 2025, Venue is  National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, and Time: Arrival of schools begins by 8:00 AM; Lectures and award sessions will commence by 9:30 in the morning.

Over 250 participants including students, educators, public figures, and media profession als are expected at the event.
