Ibadan Chief Joins Ancestors

Veteran journalist, media strategist and the Abese of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Alabi, is dead.

Chief Alabi reportedly passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 76.

The Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland announced his passing in a statement signed by the Media Aide to the Olubadan, Adeola Oloko.

The late Chief Alabi, a highly respected figure in journalism and public communication, served as Press Secretary to several former governors of Oyo State.

He was widely known for his contributions to the media profession, public service, and for upholding the traditions and culture of Ibadanland.

Beyond his career in journalism, Alabi was a respected cultural ambassador and traditional title holder.

Family sources confirmed that he would be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.

Further details on burial arrangements and tributes are expected to be announced by the family and the palace.
